Some visions are built to go beyond borders. For Albania Rosario, founder and CEO of Fashion Designers of Latin America (FDLA), that vision has guided more than seventeen years of creating opportunities for Latin American and Caribbean talent. After years of establishing FDLA’s presence during New York Fashion Week, Rosario is opening a new chapter with the organization’s first presentation in Paris, bringing her mission to another of the world’s most influential fashion capitals. Yet, beyond the international runways, her purpose remains the same: to open doors for creatives whose talent deserves to be seen. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Rosario arrived in New York City in 2000 with the determination to build a future in a new environment. In 2009, she transformed that ambition into FDLA, a platform created to connect Latin American and Caribbean designers with international audiences.

Over the years, the organization has developed a presence during New York Fashion Week, helping designers showcase their collections while creating opportunities for models, stylists, makeup artists, and other professionals who bring each presentation to life.

For Rosario, fashion has always represented more than clothing or a runway moment. It is a way to communicate identity, celebrate cultural heritage, and create opportunities for people whose work might otherwise remain outside the industry’s most visible spaces. Her leadership reflects the belief that talent can be found everywhere, even when access to professional networks and international platforms is not equally available.

From New York to Paris

FDLA’s arrival in Paris marks an important milestone in the organization’s evolution. After years of building its presence in New York, the move into the French capital represents an opportunity to introduce Latin American and Caribbean creativity to new audiences and expand the international reach of the designers it supports.

Paris carries a distinctive place in the global fashion landscape, making this new chapter especially meaningful for a platform built around cultural representation and international visibility. For Rosario, the expansion is not simply about bringing a fashion presentation to another city. It is about continuing to create connections between designers and the global industry, allowing their work, stories, and creative identities to travel further.

The journey from New York to Paris reflects years of persistence, relationship-building, and commitment to a broader vision. What began as an initiative to give Latin American and Caribbean designers greater visibility has continued to evolve into a platform with international ambitions.

Each new opportunity reinforces the purpose behind FDLA: “to ensure that creative talent has the chance to reach audiences beyond its place of origin.”

A Vision That Invests in the Future

Rosario’s commitment to opening doors extends beyond international fashion presentations. With the launch of the Albania Rosario Scholarship, she is bringing that philosophy directly to the next generation of designers. Valued at $40,000 in professional fashion development opportunities, the initiative is designed to help one emerging creative transform talent and ambition into the foundations of a professional career.

Open to designers worldwide between the ages of 16 and 24, the scholarship offers a year of mentorship, collection development, brand strategy, commercial coaching, and international exposure. The selected designer is expected to present a collection at New York Fashion Week in September 2027, with the program designed to support the process leading up to that milestone.

The initiative reflects a challenge Rosario has witnessed throughout her career: emerging designers may have the creativity and determination to succeed, but lack the resources, guidance, and industry connections needed to develop their brands. By combining creative mentorship with professional and commercial development, the scholarship aims to provide more than a runway opportunity. It seeks to give a young designer the tools to build a stronger and more sustainable future in fashion.

For Rosario, creating access is part of building a lasting legacy. An international presentation can introduce a designer to new audiences, but mentorship and professional development can shape the decisions that follow long after the runway lights fade.

Through the scholarship, she is extending the same philosophy that has guided FDLA from New York to Paris: “Opportunity becomes more meaningful when it allows someone else to move forward.”

Opening Doors Beyond Borders

Albania Rosario’s journey demonstrates how a vision can grow when it is sustained by a clear purpose. From establishing FDLA in New York to expanding its international presence in Paris and investing in emerging designers, her work connects two essential ideas: bringing Latin American and Caribbean creativity to the world and helping the next generation find its place within it.

At Palms Vision Magazine, we believe that true vision is measured not only by how far someone travels, but by how many possibilities they create along the way.

Rosario’s story is a reminder that building a platform can mean more than achieving recognition; it can mean creating opportunities for others to pursue ambitions that once seemed beyond reach.

As FDLA enters this new chapter, the destination may have changed, but the mission remains consistent. From New York to Paris, Albania Rosario continues to build bridges between talent and opportunity, demonstrating that the most powerful vision is one that opens doors for others.
